Itinerary
EIL Germany Bonn (Group 2)
26/04/2014 - 10/05/2014
EIL Ireland Homestay & Volunteering programme Ballyhoura, Ireland.
EIL Ireland & Experiment EV welcome you to Ireland where, for a period of two weeks, you will live with an Irish host family, take part in voluntary service in the local community and learn about Irish culture. You will also enjoy an overnight stay at a seaside adventure centre on the south east coast of Ireland.
Day 1
Saturday April 26th
Flight EI 0693 Aer Lingus arriving at 11:20am into Dublin Airport.
Meet EIL representative Robbie Eyres - transfer by private coach to Charleville, near Ballyhoura, Co. Limerick.
On arrival, meet local co-ordinator Valerie Harding who will welcome you to the community and introduce you to your host families.
6pm                Dinner and overnight in host familiy
Day 2
Sunday April 27th
9.00am          Free day with host families.




Day 3
Monday April 28th
10:30am         Meet at Ballyagran community Hall for orientation to Ireland and Irish culture with EIL Ireland staff member Fiona O’Leary. Orientation with the community service projects by Valerie & local community leaders.
12:00pm         Community service project begins at Ballyagran Community Hall.  The school in Ballyagran celebrates its 40th birthday this year. The primary school in Ballyagran is the heart of the community and has played an important part in our community since it opened in 1974.  The village will host celebrations in May and welcome all past students from the past 40 years.  This project is of huge importance to our community as we rely on your volunteering to help prepare our village for these celebrations.  The Community hall in our village is where some of our celebrations will be held and we will be responsible for painting the walls and cleaning the outside of the hall

2.00pm          Community service project continues
5.00pm          Host families pick up for return home
Day 4
Tuesday April 29th
9.30am           Meet at Ballyagran Community Hall, continue with project.
12:00pm        Packed lunch
1.00pm           Afternoon instruction of traditional Irish sports with local instructor. Learn the skills of Gaelic football, our national sport in Ireland. End the day with a game to show off your new skills.
5.00pm           Host families pick up for return home.




Day 5
Wednesday April 30th
9.30am           Meet at Ballyagran Hall and continue with project.
12.00pm        Packed lunch

4.00pm           Learn the skills of Irish dancing with local teacher.
5.30pm           Host families pick up for return home
Day 6
Thursday May 1st
9.30am          Meet at Ballyagran Hall, continue with project.
12.00pm         Packed lunch
Community service project continues

5.30pm           Host families pick up for return home

Day 7
Friday May 2nd
10.00am        Meet at Ballyagran Hall continue with project.
12:00pm        Packed lunch

1.00pm          Art class in Ballyagran Hall

5.30pm          Host families pick up for return home

Day 8
Saturday May 3rd
10.00am         Group depart by private coach for Tramore Surf School & Adventure Centre, county Waterford
12:00pm        Packed lunch
Afternoon of surfing lessons.
6:00pm          Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9
Sunday May 4th
8.00am          Breakfast Hotel

10:00am         Morning of outdoor activities Depart Tramore by private coach.
Packed lunch.
6.00pm          Approx. arrival at host community
Day 10
Monday May 5th
9.30am           Families drop to Pauline’s Dog Shelter project. Meet Pauline to learn about the work of the project and meet the dogs that you will be taking care of.
Paulines Rescue is near Charleville in North Cork.
Mission
Pauline's Rescue takes in abandoned and neglected dogs. Here they are given the second chance at life which they all deserve. Dogs that arrive here are given love and compassion and in some cases for the first time.  You can visit her facebook page paulines rescue and have a look at some of the dogs you will be working with. This shelter relies completely on volunteers and receives no funding from the state.  This is such a worthwhile project and I know you will enjoy it.

Day 12
Wednesday May 7th
9.30am           Continue project at Pauline’s dog shelter
12:00pm        Packed lunch
12:30pm         Depart by public bus for Cork city. Meet EIL representative for orientation to Cork city. Free time to explore Cork city, Ireland’s second largest city.

5.00pm           Host family pick up from bus in Charleville- host families pick up for return home.

Day 13
Thursday May 8th

9:30 am         Pauline’s Dog Shelter project.
12:00pm        Packed lunch

2:00pm          Project work continues

5.00pm          Host families pick up for return home.

Day 14
Friday May 9th
9.30am           Finish project at Pauline’s dog shelter
12:00pm         Packed lunch
Art workshop in Castletown Hall / Prepare for Farewell party
5.00pm           Host families pick up for return home.
6.00pm           Farewell party

Day 15
Saturday May 10th

Depart by private coach transfer to Dublin for Aer Lingus flight, departing at 17:50pm
